By Amany Latif Ebied, Secretary, WACC- Middle East Region

In response to a high demand from WACC partners in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for an Arabic version of the GMMP monitoring methodology, WACC has, for the first time, translated the GMMP2009/2010 monitoring methodology to Arabic. The Arabic version of the GMMP methodology can be accessed from the GMMP website at: http://www.whomakesthenews.org/news/2009-10-21-17-12-49.html

The availability of the methodology in Arabic will enhance the ability of participants from the Middle East and North Africa region to use the GMMP 2009/2010 monitoring guides coherently and accurately and help ensure a uniform global application of the monitoring methodology.

The Lebanese journalist was a vocal critic of the Syrian presence in Lebanon. Kassir is just one example of the scores of journalists worldwide who have been targeted, brutalized and sometimes killed by the enemies of press freedom.
